Passive House Collaboration

As a Certified Passive House Designer I can work alongside other architects, designers, and builders to deliver Passive House-informed projects — whether you're aiming for full certification or simply want to apply the principles of comfort, efficiency, and durability.

From concept design and energy modelling to thermal detailing and certification, I offer flexible collaboration tailored to your team's needs and project goals.

Passive House Modeling (PHPP) is an approved verified method for H1 Compliance under the NZBC, so this exercise can also be used in the Building Consent Applicaiton. It is important to get consultation on Passive House Design early on in your project, so we can efficiently design in features like airtightness, a quality thermal envelope, considered thermal bridging, window specifications, shading and the like from the start. Getting a design preliminarily modeled at Concept stage is a must for a successful Passive House Project.

Passive House is a voluntary international standard developed in the late 1980s in Germany.

Since those days many homes all around the world have been Designed and Certified as Passive House to the very standard the global building for climate change movement is currently working towards.

A certified Passive House is healthy, comfortable and energy efficient as it meets strict minimum performance targets.

The process of Passive House ensures that the Architectural design is evaluated to meet meet those performance targets and checks the build to ensure that what has been designed has been realized in the required built form. Only buildings that have been certified can claim to be Passive House.

Passive House targets are being used by Governments all around the world as the guide for energy and health targets with the Building for Climate Change improvements. Passive House is one path that can be used to meet the Energy Targets committed to by our Government at COP 28, renewing our commitment to the Paris Agreement.

Passive House has over 30 years of international projects to draw experience, lessons and learnings from.

We all deserve a warm, comfortable, healthy and affordable home to live in. Passive house is a well proven standard that achieves that.
